The Coastal Processes Team utilises both desk- and field-based studies to answer questions posed by research, government, and industry bodies. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to join a diverse team working on a range of UK-based and international projects and help implement cutting edge techniques, including machine vision and deep neural networks. The team is at the forefront of growing Cefas science capabilities in new technologies, including leading RPA (remotely piloted aircraft) and Earth observation from Space, and the post holder will play a critical role in further advancing analytical capability in the team.

The successful candidate will ensure the suitability, accuracy, and reproducibility of results to support delivery, develop code and grow data science skills in the team helping improve the methodologies and analytical techniques applied to complex issues in the coastal zone.

The role will provide learning and development opportunities through close collaboration with a wide range of Cefas scientists, along with training courses, contributions to peer reviewed publications, attending scientific working groups, and the potential to develop your own areas of research.
