WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • The CMCC Risk Assessment and Adaptation Strategies Division (RAAS)
  • Division, located in Venice, is looking for a new position of Post-doc researcher, responsible for supporting the development of advanced multi-hazard risk assessment methodologies for evaluating climate change risks in marine coastal areas and the risk reduction potential of nature-based solutions.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • PhD in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Environmental planning or related fields;
  • Expertise in modelling the impact of climate change on water quality and ecological processes in marine coastal areas;
  • base knowledge of (geo)statistics, geospatial data processing software and tools, such as GIS, Python, R, Google Earth Engine or a willingness to learn;
  • Excellent knowledge of English language (working language at CMCC/RAAS).

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

  • Willingness to work in diverse and interdisciplinary teams;
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work on diverse projects and respond to emerging challenges in the topic;
  • Experience in the application of complex system analysis tools and methods for risk appraisal (e.g., Machine Learning and Data Analytics, Bayesian Networks, Agent-based Models, Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis);
  • Knowledge on nature-based solution effectiveness for climate change mitigation;
  • Desire to engage in activities related to the co-development of risk modelling approaches nurtured by stakeholder needs and perspectives;
  • Enthusiasm to advise junior researchers.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • The appointment period will be initially of 12° months starting from January 2024 (negotiable), renewable on an annual basis pending positive evaluations. Tenure can be granted from 2 to 4 years after being appointed as a junior researcher;
  • The gross annual salary range is from 30.000 to 45.000 Euros, depending on qualifications and work experience;
  • The job location is CMCC Headquarters in Venice, Italy.

  • Support during the immigration process, if needed.

Belonging to legally protected categories (ex L. 68/99) will constitute a preferential condition.
