We are opening a fully-funded 3-year PhD position at Ifremer in the Laboratory of Spatial and Physical Oceanography in Brest, France with a start date in October 2026.

This project proposes to advance our understanding of the role of the ocean mesoscale on heat transport from the subpolar regions to the sea ice in both hemispheres. This will be achieved by using a hierarchy of high-resolution ocean-sea ice models ; from eddy-permitting (1/4°) to eddy-rich (1/36°). The PhD project is inscribed into a larger project called HEAT-UP that will provide some opportunities of collaborations.
